Blepharoplasty Post-Operative Instructions
Follow your surgeon’s instructions carefully to support proper healing and achieve the best surgical outcome. Mild swelling, bruising, and temporary discomfort are normal and typically improve gradually during the recovery period.
First 24–48 Hours After Surgery
Rest with your head elevated using 2–3 pillows.
Day 1: Apply cold compresses for 10–15 minutes every hour while awake.
Day 2: Apply cold compresses every 3 hours a few times.
Keep your eyes clean using saline and sterile gauze.
Expect mild swelling, bruising, watering, or blurred vision, as this is completely normal.
Do not rub your eyes.
Eye Care Instructions
Use all prescribed eye drops or ointments exactly as directed.
Note that temporary blurred vision caused by the ointment is normal.
Do not apply eye makeup until you are explicitly cleared by your surgeon.
Activity Restrictions
For 7–10 days: Avoid heavy lifting, bending forward, and any strenuous activity.
For 2–3 weeks: Avoid swimming, saunas, steam rooms, and wearing contact lenses.
First few days: Limit reading and screen time.
For 5–7 days: Sleep on your back with your head elevated
What Is Normal After Eyelid Surgery
Swelling and bruising (which typically peaks around Day 2–3).
Mild tightness or physical discomfort.
Sensitivity to light.
Temporary blurry vision.
Mild tearing or dryness in the eyes.
Contact Your Surgeon Immediately If You Notice
Sudden vision problems.
Severe pain that is not relieved by your prescribed medication.
Increasing redness or worsening swelling.
A fever.
Any active bleeding or pus discharge.
