about

The Brazilian Butt Lift is intended to enhance the look of your buttocks by using a special fat transfer procedure to increase volume and create an aesthetically pleasing shape without the need for silicone implants.

The first step of the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure is to remove excess fat from the body with Liposuction from specific areas of the body, such as the stomach, waist and thighs. Small, inconspicuous incisions are made and a thin hollow tube, or cannula, is inserted before an ultrasonic device is applied to gently loosen the excess fat using a controlled back and forth motion. This dislodged fat is then suctioned out of the body using a surgical vacuum or syringe attached to the cannula.

The fat, tissue and blood removed during the liposuction procedure is then processed to separate the pure fat cells. This is then attached to a syringe by a cannula, through which the fat passes, which the surgeon then uses to inject the harvested fat strategically the buttock region in multiple planes, such as the intramuscular, subfacial and subcutaneous regions. Typically, 600-1500 ml of fat is injected depending on the desired result.

The results of buttock augmentation are immediately visible; however, you will not see your final results until a year after the surgery, as it takes a while for the fat to “take.” Initially, the Brazilian Butt Lift may look extreme due to the amount of fat that is transferred during the procedure. This is because around 30 to 40 per cent of the fat transferred will be naturally reabsorbed and excreted by the body.  After this natural process is completed by the body, the cells in the buttocks will start to regenerate and produce additional fat cells, which will cause an increase in volume. The final results will be evident up to one year after the procedure, when everything has stabilized.

Does a brazilian butt lift require anesthesia?

A Brazilian Butt Lift is generally performed under local anaesthesia, with light sedation (twilight anaethesia) often used to increase the comfort level of the patient. Your surgeon will be able to advise in more detail in line with your individual case.

Who is a good candidate for a brazilian butt lift?

Men and women who want a visible, immediate improvement to the shape, size and projection of their buttocks.

Is a brazilian butt lift permanent?

Brazilian Butt Lift surgery is long lasting and can last for decades so long as proper care is given to maintain the results.  However, your backside will change in appearance over time due to the natural ageing process and, in particular, the projection may decrease. For the best and longest lasting results, it is recommended to maintain a stable weight and adhere to a healthy, active lifestyle.

Deciding about brazilian butt lift surgery

A Brazilian Butt Lift is a major surgical procedure that will alter your shape and can have a psychological impact, so careful thought needs to be given prior to going ahead.

At Cocoona, we ask for you to conduct a self-evaluation to help you assess if you are one hundred per cent ready, both physically and mentally, for Brazilian Butt Lift surgery. You should ask yourself the following questions:

  • Have I exhausted all the non-surgical options, such as diet and exercise, to improve my shape?
  • Do I have realistic expectations about what a Brazilian Butt Lift can achieve?
  • Do I fully understand the surgical procedure, how long it will take and what I need to do after the surgery to promote healing and recovery?
  • Am I prepared to maintain my weight after surgery by following a healthy diet and exercise routine to help maintain the results?

Once you have clarity on the above, the next step is to find the right surgeon and clinic. These are of paramount importance.

You need a surgeon who is experienced in performing Brazilian Butt Lift surgery, has a sound reputation and proven results. You should also look for a surgeon who will give you honest and realistic advice on what you can and can’t achieve with this procedure.

A good clinic is one that has an experienced and highly skilled surgical team, licensed aestheticist(s), well trained nursing staff, an excellent reputation, and a low complication rate. Of course, the clinic also needs to be licensed with the relevant authorities for the country or region it is situated in. At Cocoona, we tick all these boxes.

How much does brazilian butt lift surgery cost?

For an accurate cost assessment, you will need to book an initial consultation with our surgeon. As with almost any aesthetic procedure, the cost will depend on the following factors:

Surgeon’s Expertise – The surgeon’s fee is based on their experience. Obviously, a reputable surgeon who is established and has a successful track record will charge higher fees.

Clinic/ Hospital – Fees also depend upon the quality of the facility chosen for the operation.

Geographic Area – Depending on the city/ area you decide to have the surgery in, the cost is likely be different: clinics in larger metropolitan cities tend to cost more. You should bear in mind that the expertise of your consultant and your comfort factor with him or her should be one the most important considerations, much more so than the cost of the procedure. A cheap procedure could turn out to be an expensive proposition in the long run.

Preparing for your initial meeting with the surgeon

Once you are clear about your reasons for Brazilian Butt Lift surgery and have decided to proceed, call us to fix an appointment. The expert surgeon who will perform the surgery will consult with you; during the consultation, you should expect the following:

  • Discussion about why you have opted for a Brazilian Butt Lift and what your goals are in relation to the procedure
  • Understanding your medical history
  • Evaluating your health status
  • The options available for your Brazilian Butt Lift
  • An examination of the area or areas to be treated, measurements (if relevant) and potentially, photography to record what the area or areas look like prior to the procedure being undertaken
  • Explanation of the options, steps involved, future treatment, risks, and potential complications, if any

Feeling apprehensive before the surgery takes place is entirely normal. Be sure to discuss any fears or concerns you have with your surgeon and don’t hesitate to ask any questions related to the results you hope to achieve.

Brazilian butt lift surgery FAQs – what should you ask the surgeon?

Being well informed is being well prepared. Apart from checking that your clinic and doctors have the necessary skills, knowledge and experience, here are some more areas that you should explore:

  • How many years of experience do you have as a Plastic Surgeon?
  • How many Brazilian Butt Lift surgeries have you done?
  • Where will the surgery be conducted?
  • Is the clinic prepared and certified to undertake Brazilian Butt Lift surgery?
  • What are the most common complications experienced by your patients? And how were they handled?
  • Do you have a “before” and “after” photo album of Brazilian Butt Lift surgeries?
  • Am I a good candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift?
  • What can I expect after the surgery?
  • What precautions would I need to take before and after the surgery?
  • How many days will I take to recover fully?
  • What should I do for a quick recovery?
  • Will the shape and appearance of the area to be treated change over time? If yes, how?
  • What are the risks involved in this surgery?
  • What treatment option/ technique will be used for me?

Please feel free to add any more questions that you wish to this list before your consultation.

Choosing your surgeon
Preparing for a brazilian butt lift

After your initial consultation with the surgeon, once you are satisfied with the outcome of the ensuing discussions and have confirmed that you will go ahead with your chosen consultant, a date will be fixed for the procedure.

Brazilian Butt Lift surgery can be performed on an outpatient basis but may necessitate a stay in hospital for one to night depending on the procedure or combination of procedures performed. In the unlikely event of complications, an overnight stay may be required for outpatients, or inpatients may face a longer stay, should the attending doctor make the recommendation. Before you come in for your procedure, we recommend that you plan accordingly.

Here are some of the important steps that you must take before the procedure:

  • Discuss all medication and vitamins that you regularly use with your consultant to see if you should stop taking them before surgery and, if so, for how long. For example, any medications and vitamins that interfere with your body’s blood clotting ability, such as Vitamin E, will need to be stopped completely prior to surgery.
  • Smokers should quit two months prior to surgery; smoking interferes with the efficiency of blood flow to the skin which may have an impact on achieving optimal results and increase the risk of complications.
  • You should be in the best possible health and at a stable weight; ensuring that you follow a healthy, balanced diet prior to surgery will help you to be in optimal physical condition to help promote the best outcome

Our surgeon and patient counselor will guide you thoroughly about what you need to do so that you are completely at ease and ready for surgery and beyond.

What can I expect after a brazilian butt lift?
  • Immediately after the surgery, dressings will be placed on your buttocks where the incision or incisions have been made, with small drains in place to expel fluid.
  • The drains are usually removed within 24-48 hours post-surgery, at which point the dressings will be replaced with a compression garment to help avoid fluid build-up. You should expect to wear the compression garment for around six weeks.
  • You should expect some discomfort and pain after the surgery. This will be controlled with a pain management plan, which will be explained to you by your surgeon, and you will be given a course of antibiotics to help avoid infection.
  • You will need to avoid sitting down as much as possible for approximately two weeks or even longer, as this will damage the fat. You will also need to sleep on your stomach or on your side for the same reasons.
  • Once discharged, you will need to have regular follow ups with your surgeon to check on your healing and care for the wound.
  • Most people are able to resume exercise after six to eight weeks under the supervision of their consultant.
  • The results of your procedure will be visible immediately, although it may take up to a year to see the final results as a proportion of the fat used will be naturally reabsorbed by the body.

I want to thank you for the great effort and expertise that you put in the hair transplant procedure which you did on me. You have fixed a big cut from a previous, very bad hair transplant in Jordan. It kept me very nervous and uncomfortable for very long time. Now, after conducting this surgery by you, I feel very very happy because the cut is almost gone. I like your personality and professionalism. I am really glad that I made a decision to come to Dubai and conduct the surgery at Cocoona Clinic Thank you very much.
